- APEM owns a Cessna 172S fitted with specialist photography equipment and the most recent aerial survey technology and software. APEM is the first and only company in the UK to own the latest Track-Air MIDAS technology which enables us to capture high quality images with a ground resolution of up to 2cm.
- Customised software allows detailed pre-flight planning, ensuring that course and altitude are accurately flown. This software, which is also linked to the on board GPS navigation enable automatic camera triggering at precisely planned positions. Aeroplane roll, pitch and drift are all accounted for and easily corrected using this equipment and a live video feed of the 17 megapixel digital camera's view.
- GPS and GIS synchronisation enables all photographic records to be ground-thruthed and assessed for physical habitat changes over time. These changes can then be used for the baseline assessment of various impacts under the Water Framework Directive.
- APEM's aerial capabilities enable us to survey large stretches of river corridor and coastline quickly and economically. It provides an alternative solution to inaccessible survey locations and allows obejctive assessment of habitat changes over time.
