Kirsten Wright - Swimathon

Well done to APEM’s Kirsten Wright, based in our Oxford office, for swimming the English Channel! Well actually she didn’t, but she did swim the equivalent of the English Channel (22 miles). Over a twelve week period, Kirsten swam an average of two miles per week at her local pool. To raise money for the charity Aspire, who help people with spinal cord injuries.

Kirsten aimed to swim two miles per week, and was almost on track by completing fourteen miles in the first eight week. However, she then fell behind leaving herself eight miles to complete in the final two weeks.

On her final day, Kirsten had a massive total of 216 lengths (>3miles) to complete. But she made it, arriving in virtual France on Thursday 1st December, and celebrated with a glass or two of Cote du Rhone.

Kirsten raised £165 which APEM have kindly agreed to double, but people can still donate money for up to three months at http://www.justgiving.com/kalwright. With APEM’s contribution Kirsten has raised a grand total of £330, so well done Kirsten!
