Restoration of Riverine Salmon Habitats - A Guidance Manual
This national research and development project for the Environment Agency provided guidance on restoring salmon habitats in rivers within the UK. The Environment Agency required a definite manual detailing the restoration of salmon habitats covering theory, best practice, practical advice, legislative matters and permissions. The manual needed to be concise and user friendly, yet complete and accurate, taking the fisheries specialist through the practicalities and limitations of salmon habitat restoration. We undertook desk and field based investigations and married these with several decades of combined technical experience to produce a national policy and technical manual usable by all practitioners of salmonid habitat restoration.
