River Avon Abstraction Study
APEM undertook a large inter-disciplinary study on behalf of Wessex Water investigating the effects of abstraction on the ecology of the River Avon catchment. Macrophytes were surveyed using an extended MTR methodology at 43 sites with a range of abstraction impacts in the Upper Avon catchment. Robust statistical analysis was then applied to the data to investigate the contribution abstraction makes in determining the condition of macrophyte communities alongside other environmental variables.
