Impact of Drought and Drought Orders
Low rainfall during 1995 and 1996 resulted in drought orders being implemented throughout Yorkshire. A full evaluation was required into the effects of the drought and drought orders on the impacted rivers. We analysed data for a standard range of hydrological parameters that had been collected from the Met Office, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency over a 10 year period alongside hydrochemical and macroinvertebrate data for the same period to examine the biological implications of severe reductions in rainfall.
