On the 19th July APEM staff and guests (80 in all) gathered at the Oxford University Science Park to celebrate APEM’s 20th year in business and the official opening of the new Oxford Office.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception and brief speeches from APEM’s managing director Dr Keith Hendry and the academic director of the Science Park Professor Peter Dobson before the festivities began. The Walled Garden at the Science Park provided a picturesque setting for the celebrations and the weather held out (mostly) allowing everyone to partake of the splendid hog roast and champagne in the sunshine.
APEM’s continued growth meant that there were many young (and old) but all eager and enthusiastic scientists present and spurred on by Dr Stuart Clough’s advice to ‘talk to at least three people you don’t know’ full advantage was taken to make fresh contacts, meet new people and just catch up with old friends.
Following the main event celebrations continued with everyone swiftly relocating to the nearest pub. A great time was had by all and a few sore heads were to be found in the three (Manchester, Dorset and Oxford) APEM offices the following morning!
