Jul 30		APEM Achieve Lake Habitat Survey Accreditation
		APEM are the only consultancy company outside the UK regulatory bodies who are accredited to complete Lake Habitat Surveys following the recent successful completion of training and assessment. 		Congratulations to Kathy Morris and Rebecca Emmett at APEM's Dorset Laboratory for passing the Natural History Museum’s prestigious Identification Qualification in Freshwater Macroinvertebrate Species (E062) with over 94%. May 13		Mitten Crabs Invading UK Waterways
		A Chinese mitten crab caught in a fyke net by APEM field scientists. The Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) is an invasive non-native species first recorded in the UK in the 1930’s and is well established in several river systems throughout the UK, primarily on the east coast. Apr 07		APEM & IFM Host Successful Fish Passage Conference
		Fish passage is currently a high profile topic due to the Water Framework Directive and recent eel regulations. Mar 29		APEM's Stockport Laboratory Earns UKAS Accreditation
		After many months' hard work, APEM's Stockport laboratory has now been accredited by UKAS for freshwater macroinvertebrates (species level analysis), diatom analysis (freshwater and marine) and phytoplankton analysis (freshwater and marine). UKAS accreditation for these biologiocal analyses is held by very few organisations, and indeed no other organisations in the UK hold accreditation for diatom analysis, nor for species level analysis of macroinvertebrates.As the ... 		Week 9A vital part of APEM’s work is prioritising the Health and Safety of its employees both in the office, the laboratory and in the field. As part of this commitment to Health and Safety, I was sent on a one day First Aid course to enable me to be a first aid appointed person in the workplace.
