APEM BioLabs awarded Environment Agency and Natural England Framework Contracts for Freshwater and Marine Ecological Services

APEM’s leading aquatic ecology laboratory service – BioLabs – has been awarded a place on two key framework contracts for the Environment Agency and Natural England, covering freshwater and marine sample analysis: 

• Environment Agency National Framework for Freshwater Ecology Services (Lot 2 – provision of specialist services for species verification/identification and sample analysis); and
• Environment Agency and Natural England Framework for Marine Macrobenthic Sample Analysis.

Appointment to these framework contracts is in recognition of the individual expertise of APEM’s staff and is a reflection of APEM BioLabs’ unrivalled capacity and quality.

These appointments follow the recent accreditation by UKAS of APEM’s Stockport laboratory for freshwater macroinvertebrate species, freshwater and marine diatoms, and freshwater and marine phytoplankton. These frameworks provide a solid basis for the further development of BioLabs and for establishing its reputation as the leading provider of quality-assured analysis of aquatic biological samples in the UK.
