APEM Ltd. has been commissioned as specialist water management consultants since 1987 to monitor and manage the water quality and ecology in Salford Quays and to implement necessary improvements to maintain the highest possible levels of environmental quality. Water quality monitoring is carried out throughout the year at nine sites within the Inner Basins and a further two sites in the Manchester Ship Canal (MSC). The data presented here consist of surface water temperatures measured during our routine sampling at Sites 1 and 7. Temperature is measured in profiles through the water column weekly from November to April inclusive, and twice weekly from May to October.

Over the past 20 years APEM Ltd has been undertaking detailed water quality and ecological monitoring at Cavendish Dock, Cumbria, to assess the effects of re-firing Roosecote power station and to provide management information to aid compliance with a number of management objectives developed for the site. Within Cavendish Dock, a total of seven sites are monitored on a monthly basis. Two further sites are monitored, Site 5 in Poaka Beck (freshwater) and Site RD in Ramsden Dock. The data presented in the graph below consist of water temperature data gathered during our routine monitoring at Site 5 in Poaka Beck.
