Intake Screen Design
We have undertaken a number of specialist intake screen and fish handling design projects including both physical and behavioural options. These have included assessments of screening options for lamprey on the Rivers Ouse and Derwent, for shad, lamprey and salmon on the Rivers Usk, Wye and Tywi, estuarine fish species on the Mersey Estuary; freshwater and migratory fish species on the River Trent; and migratory, estuarine and marine fish species in the Bristol Channel.
One key example is a three-year study for the design, development and trialling of an ultrasound acoustic deterrent for the protection of juvenile twaite shad at intakes.
