Power Station Entrainment / Impingement
APEM have undertaken entrainment/impingement studies at freshwater, estuarine and coastal power stations to determine potential impacts upon fish populations, design the most appropriate fish screening/handling technologies and determine fish diversity as a conservation monitoring tool.
Example projects include: monthly monitoring of fish entrainment into the cooling water intake of Shoreham Power Station to assess fish diversity; and weekly sampling at Keadby Power Station to determine potential impacts, requirements and designs for fish screening/handling upgrades and pump sampling to mimic entrainment at a new site on the River Trent.
