Salary: £17,000 - £22,000 plus Benefits Package

About the role

We are currently looking for a high-calibre and motivated aquatic scientist to join our Phytoplankton taxonomy team in our Stockport laboratory.

Please note that this is not a trainee post, and you will be expected to be able to pass our stringent internal AQC checks with minimal training.

About you

You will be qualified, preferably to BSc level in a relevant subject and will have the equivalent of at least 1 years full time experience in the analysis of phytoplankton to genus or species level.

You will have excellent taxonomic skills and experience of working under an Analytic Quality Control system.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience of working under an Analytic Quality Control (AQC) system (Essential)
  • Wide-ranging experience of identifying phytoplankton from different habitats and regions of the UK (Essential)
  • An understanding of other types of biological analysis such as zooplankton, macroinvertebrates or diatoms (Desirable)
  • A general knowledge of aquatic ecology (Desirable)
