Chris Evans - Field Scientist

My name is Christopher Evans and I have recently joined APEM as a Field Scientist based in the Stockport office.
I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2008 with a BSc in Oceanography with Physical Geography followed by an MSc in Environmental Studies. During my time at university I worked on a range of interesting projects largely focused on the applications of remote sensing and GIS to environmental problems. For my undergraduate dissertation I worked on methods for detecting oil spills in the marine environment using satellite data. During my MSc Thesis I helped develop a model to predict the effects of sea level rise on coastal ecosystems in East Anglia.
For the past two years I have been working in the aquaculture industry on a shellfish hatchery where I was responsible for monitoring water quality and phytoplankton blooms. I really enjoyed this experience and I am looking forward to applying the knowledge and skills I have gained in this industry to my work here at APEM.
One of my passions in life is travelling and I have been lucky enough to combine this with working abroad. I have been involved with environmental research work in both the Canary Islands and Costa Rica. In my free time I enjoy sailing, playing football and snowboarding.
