Lindsey Defew - Aquatuc Scientist

I'm Lindsey and I recently started my role as Aquatic Scientist in the Edinburgh office. I started my aquatic career with a BSc in Aquatic Biology from the University of Hull before moving to Edinburgh to do my MSc in Marine Resource Management and Protection. I subsequently went on to work for the Centre for Ecology and Hydology as an environmental research scientist before completing my PhD in diffuse pollution and freshwater ecology with the freshwater research group. I was only supposed to be there 3 months and ended up staying 5 years!
I then worked as a macrophyte ecologist on Scottish Natural Heritage's Site Condition Monitoring programme in the summers of 2009 and 2010, surveying macrophyte communities in so many Scottish Loch's I lost count! And in between I went galavanting around the world getting a suntan! Now I am back in sunny (cough!) Edinburgh and ready to get stuck into some new and exciting projects with APEM.
In my free time, I will mostly be found in my posh gym and swimming pool (aka the hydro pool and sauna!) or riding my sister's horses.
