Polly Boyce - Graduate Scientist

Polly Boyce New Starter.JPG

My name is Polly Boyce and I began working for APEM as a Graduate Scientist in the Edinburgh Office this Summer.

I recently graduated from the Scottish Agricultural College (The University of Edinburgh) with a BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Environmental Management. During my time at University I found the ecology and habitat management related modules of particular interest and decided I would like a career in this field. I was delighted to discover APEM and the opportunity the company gives to concentrate on aquatic ecology, an area which has always intrigued me and have wanted to learn more about.

To date, I have been working mainly on the River Clyde project learning a great deal about water chemistry survey methods and putting my newly gained RYA powerboat handling qualification to good use. I have also helped out on fish survey and fish rescue projects, enabling me to get out and about and see some more of the countryside whilst gaining valuable experience in a wide range of field survey techniques. I look forward to increasing my knowledge skills base over the up and coming months.

In my spare time I enjoy sailing, swimming and mountain biking and going home to visit the Highlands as often as I can.
