Sarah Temple-Graduate Scientist

My name is Sarah Temple and I have just started working at APEM (July 2011) in the Graduate Scientist post, based in the Stockport office.
I completed my degree in Marine Biology with Oceanography at the University of Southampton in 2009. I then chose to stay in Southampton for another year and do a Master of Research in Ocean Science degree, which I completed in October 2010. I really enjoyed my time in Southampton and chose to research the effects of Portland harbour mussel farm on the benthic infauna below and the impact of Boscombe artificial surf reef for my undergraduate and masters dissertations. I learnt a lot from these projects and spent many hours collecting and analysing samples, which I thoroughly enjoyed!
After graduating, I worked with the Mourne Heritage Trust in Northern Ireland on a three month placement, during which time I produced a marine conservation report for the area. I then spent five months travelling around New Zealand, Australia and South-East Asia before starting at APEM. In my spare time I enjoy skiing, dinghy sailing, scuba diving and attempting to surf!
I realised early on when looking for jobs that APEM was a company I would love to work for due to their reputation and the nature of the work they do. The Graduate Scientist post was exactly the opportunity I was hoping for after graduating, and over the coming months I am very much looking forward to gaining experience out in the field, while learning new skills and techniques.
