Simon Warford - Ornithologist

My name is Simon Warford and I started with APEM as an Ornithologist within the Remote Sensing team at the end of June 2011. I will be based at the Stockport office. Although this is my first position in Ornithology, I have many years experience of studying British birds. I have undertaken various bird survey work and also carried out various voluntary breeding bird surveys and wetland bird surveys over the past 10 years or so.
I am hoping to put my bird identification skills to good use at APEM and over the coming months I hope to learn and develop my knowledge further. Ideally at some point I would like to become involved in some ornithological survey work.
My main interests are bird and wildlife watching, cycling and travelling. Through a combination of these hobbies I have been lucky enough to visit some of the wonderful areas of remotest Britain and Europe and also further afield to Canada and Australia. I am at my happiest when I’m away from civilisation with just my binoculars. I can often be found, especially in the Autumn, on the hills near where I live in Bolton migration watching.
