G-HABS
What type of aircraft is it?
HABS is a four seater Cessna 172 single engine propeller aircraft.

What makes it a good survey aircraft?
This is a single engine aircraft so we cannot take it offshore like JPEG and RIPA, but it is small, light and great for surveying along rivers and other land based work. It’s smaller frame makes it much cheaper to run than our twins allowing us to pass on savings to our clients. It has a camera hatch modification through the hull of the aircraft allowing us to mount sensors and collect vertical imagery as part of our surveys.
What's its history?
APEM purchased HABS in January 2011 as an almost new aircraft. The registration HABS was due to its primary use as a survey platform for river habitat type surveys and so we derived HABS from the word habitat. It is actually APEM’s second Cessna 172, the first being bought in 2005 and later sold on in 2008.
