G-JPEG
What type of aircraft is it?
JPEG is a ten seater Britten-Norman Islander twin engine propeller survey aircraft.

What makes it a good survey aircraft?
The aircrafts major strengths are huge payload capacity and a very large survey hatch, allowing us to carry large sensor equipment and several crew members. The twin engines also offer us flexibility to survey in remote areas offshore and over urban areas. It is our largest aircraft in the fleet and more expensive to run than our others, but the versatility it provides makes it a valuable and flexible survey platform. It was purchased with our clients very much in mind as we wanted an aircraft that is flexible enough to undertake surveys in almost any environment and carry any sensor that’s demanded from our customers.
What's its history?
This aircraft had a complete re-fit and overhaul at the Britten-Norman Factory on the Isle of White before delivery to APEM in October 2010 and therefore is in effect a new aircraft. It was registered to become G-JPEG as nod towards the image collection nature of the business. Since its purchase the aircraft has served us well allowing us to survey with large sensors and has been used on most of APEM’s major contracts.
