High Resolution Aerial Photography Appointments

The Aerial survey business stream at APEM has seen excellent growth over the last 3 years and is expanding rapidly. We are therefore recruiting at all levels throughout the company and in all offices.

APEM undertakes environmental investigations using a variety of data collection methods, including our Vulcanair P68 Observer 2 aircraft which is fitted with specialist image acquisition equipment and software. We undertake UK-wide survey & monitoring projects over both marine and mainland aquatic environments. APEM has developed innovative survey methods for ornithological surveys implemented as part of the offshore wind farm planning process as well as creating the Fluvial Information System to process riverine imagery. The aerial survey team is a specialist unit but can draw upon the wide range of experiences within APEM to deliver the highest quality imagery and derived products in the shortest turnaround.

APEM is unique in the aerial survey community: it is focused on collecting and analysing very high resolution aerial imagery for scientific data extraction. APEM pilots are skilled at low-level survey flights enabling our cameras to capture imagery with resolutions as fine as 3cm. Different lens types and near infra-red filters can also be deployed to provide complete flexibility of the system. Depending on the type of survey required, a variety of statistical methods are employed to ensure that the highest quality ecological data is obtained. The operational side of the business, involved in data capture, is fully integrated with the consultancy arm of the company. This latter component is involved in image post-processing and data analysis. APEM is driven by science and as such it is the information content of the imagery rather than the images themselves that are of commercial interest. Using commercial and bespoke software systems and dedicated workflows our scientists are able to extract the required deliverable for further analysis using geographical information systems.

The role you undertake within the aerial survey team will be dependent upon your experiences and position as highlighted in the grades / job descriptions featured on the vacancy page.
