APEM has been a part of the Achilles UVDB community for 15 years and provides our clients within the utilities sector the reassurance that we continue to operate above and beyond the minimum industry standards.

This is an independent audit of our health & safety, environment, and quality management systems. It also looks at our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment. Being a part of this assessment process means we get an insight into the industry’s qualification requirements and how best to meet and exceed them.

Category B2 involves a two-day audit, starting with a day dedicated to a Management Systems Evaluation. The second day would usually be a site-based assessment. However, this year due to COVID restrictions, it was carried out remotely via Microsoft Teams.

Many of our clients use Achilles UVDB as a supply chain management tool including Northern Power Grid, Scottish Power, SSE, Cadent Gas Ltd, Bristol Water, Yorkshire Water, and Anglian Water. This year’s outstanding results further highlight APEM’s dedication to offering our clients an exceptional level of service within this sector.

The final report included positive comments from the auditor who also thanked us for a very interesting audit. She wrote,

The business had prepared very well for this audit with documents and process evidence supplied as required.  A score of 100% was achieved.

Dr Williams, Managing Director, said,

We take our Achilles audit extremely seriously, not only because the H&S of our staff is paramount but we also know how important it is to our clients, but also because it’s a great opportunity to make sure that our business systems are working as they should be.

For APEM that’s particularly important as we have staff working in potentially hazardous situations, whether that be in the field or in the laboratory.

As such we have a policy of continual improvement. This is evidenced by our progression to 100% across the board in all areas this year. During the time we’ve been a part of Achilles, APEM has worked to involve people at every level and in every part of the company. This ensures our systems are robust and properly implemented. It’s great to see that work recognised by Achilles.
