About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre and motivated scientist to join our growing team. We are looking for a motivated individual to join the Data Operations Team to work as a survey operation coordinator.

Based at APEM’s operational office in Chester you will provide logistical support to the Data Operations Team, assisting in planning activities such as the preparation of survey flight plans and research into airspace, aircraft and logistics as well as reviewing project information and survey plans. You will also help calculate costs for new bids, manage some of the data workflows within the company and work closely with the Data Operations Team manager.

About you

You will have a degree in in Geomatics, Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Science, Geography, or other relevant subject and have industry experience. You will have excellent technical ability, and be able to liaise with internal and external clients, as well as external service providers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines.

You will be primarily office-based, although there may be a requirement to visit clients or outsourcing partners, or provide support with surveys if required. As such, a full driving licence and personal flexibility is essential.

Required Skills

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Project Management Experience with the ability to deliver projects on time and to budget including working with subcontractors;
  • Write clearly and to be comfortable communicating with stakeholders;
  • Previous experience of tender preparation and project costings;
  • A good knowledge of aerial digital camera systems and photogrammetry experience is desirable, but not essential;
  • Excellent IT skills, with the ability to troubleshoot system issues and resourcefulness in seeking solutions to problems (often over the phone, text or Skype);
  • Experience in topographic GNSS surveys is desirable but not essential;
  • Willingness to operate survey equipment in light aircraft (i.e. not prone to travel sickness);
  • Experience in working foreign countries is desirable, but not essential;
  • Full driving licence.
