Our Environmental Assessment Reports (EARs) and Environmental Monitoring Plans (EMPs) have been acknowledged by the Environment Agency as setting the standard across the industry.
Water company drought plans
APEM is able to offer a complete package of strategic thinking, environmental assessment, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, analysis and reporting.
We provide high calibre Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEAs), and produced by our team of dedicated consultants, field scientists and in-house laboratories.
With our track record of more than 20 successfully delivered drought permit/order EARs and EMPs between 2010 and 2016, clients can have confidence in our reliability, expertise and experience.
Our clients include large water companies such as Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, South Staffs Water, Yorkshire Water, South West Water, Thames Water and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
We take a risk based approach advocated by the latest guidance from Defra, Environment Agency and CIEEM, in addition to the specific requirements of the Water Framework Directive.
As well as delivering drought plan EARs and EMPs for water companies, we also work closely with environmental regulators to continually improve the tools and guidelines for drought plan monitoring, assessment and reporting.
APEM was appointed by the Environment Agency to undertake an independent technical review of its 2011 Drought Plan Guideline and an independent review and guidance provision to its River Severn Drought Order EAR.
We also co-hosted and delivered a drought plan and EAR seminar, which set out best practice for drought permit / order EARs to meet the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. It attracted a large number of delegates from water companies and the Environment Agency.
